Thecus Provides Consumers with More Secure and Versatile Data Storage Solutions
Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices were actually designed for SMB and Enterprise environments. However, with the implementation of Fiber Optic broadband, we are now seeing them being used in homes more and more as users are quickly running out of space due to downloads. So to help both home users and SMBs with the need for a secure, versatile and user-friendly storage solution, Thecus has given two of its top-selling NAS models an upgrade and duly unveiled the 2-bay N2800 and 4-bay N4800.
Thecus N2800

The N2800 is the successor of the N2200XXX. It retains the SD/SDHC/MMC card reader and elegant LED design of its predecessor, but now comes equipped with the 2.13GHz 3rd Generation Intel Atom D2700 processor. With the new processor, the N2800 operates silently and consumes less power as the new processor is designed to work without fans. With 2GB of DDR3 memory, the NAS also provides a much better performance and reaches the limits of Gigabit bandwidth on a 'small NAS'.
Other new features of the N2800 include a USB 3.0 port that provides users with transfer rates that are 10 times faster than USB 2.0. The HDMI output also allows users to connect the NAS directly to a HDTV or monitor to instantly access files without the need for a computer. Users will be able to view content or browse the Internet directly from the N2800. This feature makes it ideal for small installations or for mobile users, as it can help lower the total cost of ownership of a network architecture.
Thecus N4800

Like its predecessor, the N4200PRO, the N4800 was built for office or work environments that require a device that can handle large amounts of data and also provide top-notch security. The N4200PRO was one of the first NAS equipped with the Intel Atom D525 processor. As for the N4800, it is one of the first NAS to feature the latest 3rd Generation Intel Atom D2700 processor running at 2.13GHz. Combine that with 2GB of DDR3 RAM, the N4800 is a powerful NAS that is perfect for just about any environment.
Like the N2800, the N4800 also comes with a USB 3.0 port, which is now a must-have as it provides users with lightning-fast transfer rates compared to the older USB 2.0 interface. The addition of the HDMI output also makes this device highly versatile, as users won't need a computer to monitor or access files stored in the N4800. All they have to do is hook it up to a display device and mouse and keyboard through the USB ports and they will be able to watch videos directly from the NAS.
