Sapphire PGS Launches Impressive AMD FirePro W600

Having a system with multiple-displays these days are quite common because it is a great solution, especially for those who multitask or require a clearer view on the work they are doing. Multi-display setups help minimize needless scrolling and opening and closing windows. Components like the recently launched Sapphire PGS AMD FirePro W600 professional-grade graphics card will definitely be a great addition to workstations, because it is the first of many things including:
- The first professional graphics card that uses AMD Southern Islands’GPU with the newest GCN Architecture
- The first professional graphics card that implements the 28nm technology
- The first professional graphics card that supports 6 outputs and is designed for multi-screen splicing applications
- The first professional graphics card that supports Overlap edge blending
- The first professional graphics card that supports AMD Eyefinity 2.0 technology
- The first professional graphics card that supports DDMA (Discrete Digital Multi-Point Audio)
- The first professional graphics card that supports up to 4096*2304@60Hz each output, and provides both 30-bit color depth and 1 billion colors
- The first professional graphics card that supports the total resolution up to 16K x 16K
- The first professional graphics card that uses PCI-Express 3.0 interface specification

“Whether we are checking flight times at the airport or watching the latest ads on massive screens in city squares, digital signage has quickly become an important and ubiquitous part of our lives,” said Matt Skynner, Vice President of AMD. “To enable these displays, the digital signage industry demands technology that can be regularly refreshed with new, feature-rich content. With the launch of the AMD FirePro™ W600 professional graphics card, AMD is helping advance the digital display wall industry by providing suppliers and developers with impressive display density, performance and exceptional value.”
“Sapphire PGS has shifted its highlight in COMPUTEX 2012 to large-screen/multi-screen splicing. Our development toward professional graphics solutions is consistent and simultaneous with AMD. When working with Sapphire’s VID-2X, AMD FirePro™ W600 that integrates 6 output ports in a single card for supporting display of six FULL HD screens can create a 12-screen TV wall solution featuring for excellent performance, inexpensiveness, low power consumption and compactness,” said Andy Chang Director of Strategic Planning at Sapphire Technology.

Below are some of the impressive features that is packed into the AMD FirePro W600 multi-display professional graphics card:
- The first professional graphics workstation that adopts new 28nm technology and new GCN architecture;
- Single-slot, thinned structure, with its power consumption lower than 75W so no external power source is required;
- Single GPU carrying 6 MiniDP outputs, which ensure strictly synchronous output and color consistency with the resolution up to 16Kx16K;
- Supporting 3D/2D/video Acceleration to realize diverse and various large-screen applications;
- Supporting AMD Eyefinity 2.0 for Windows Tasks, displaying and dialog box repositioning, and providing more options for Eyefinity wide-domain resolution, while supporting landscape mode, portrait model or rotation of M*N-screen configurations;
- Supporting overlap edge-blending, with 0-50% overlapping for 4-pixel horizontal fine tuning and 0-50% overlapping for 2-pixel vertical fine tuning;
- Supporting bezel compensation in both horizontal and vertical directions, perfect for LCD display splicing;
- Being capable of driving up to six displays, and when working with Sapphire VID-2X Display Expander, being capable of supporting splicing of 12 of 1080P displays;
- Supporting DDMA (Discrete Digital Multi-Point Audio) with each interface supporting up to 4096x2304 30bpp @60Hz;
- Employing AMD ZeroCore Power and PowerTune technology to effectively reduce GPU power consumption at idle;
- Meeting UVD 3.0 standard to support hardware decoding for up to 2 HD video frequencies
