Transcend recently launched its next-generation SSD720 SATA III 6Gb/s solid state drives, which has been designed to deliver improved PC performance. Featuring a tough yet lightweight metal outer case, the drive boasts a super-slim form factor that measures only 7mm thin. Fully backward compatible with SATA II/I (4Gbps/1.5Gbps) interfaces, it also uses the same SATA connector for 2.5" hard disk drives.

Ideal for demanding system applications, such as specialized multimedia computing and advanced gaming, this drive has been designed for multitasking power users. With transfer speeds of up to 550MB/s read and 500MB/s write, it takes only a mere 15 seconds to transfer a 5GB DVD, thanks to a combination of the latest SATA III 6GB/s specification with a powerful SandForce-driven controller.

Reliable NAND flash memory with no moving parts also ensures that the SSD720 is resistant to shock and vibrations, as well as cool, silent and energy-efficient – a boon for notebook users who desire increased performance with a longer battery runtime. Additional support for the TRIM command ensures that this SSD also deletes data permanently, which helps it maintain optimum write speeds and increases its lifespan, while support of S.M.A.R.T. command helps prevent possible hard drive failures. Built-in wear-leveling and Error Correction Codes also provides reliable data transfers.

Available in models up to 256GB in storage capacities, the Transcend SSD720 is backed by a three-year warranty.
