LG Optimus LTE Tag Announced

LG has another phone up its sleeves after the announcement of its flagship 5-inch LG Optimus Vu; the LG Optimus LTE Tag, an LTE- and NFC-equipped Android smartphone. Like its Sony counterpart, the Sony Xperia S, the phone will be sold with NFC "tags" (known as "Tag Plus" in this case). However, instead of real tags, these LG Tags Plus will actually be stickers.

GSMArena - The phone will detect these NFC tags and perform some customizable action - e.g. launch the SatNav app when it sees the car tag, turn on the Wi-Fi in your office, set up tomorrow's alarm when you put it on the nightstand and so on.It's a very similar concept to the Sony Smart Tags, but the LG Tags Plus will be stickers and you'll get sheets of them with the Optimus LTE Tag, both pre-defined and blank ones and users will be able customize what each of them does.

Otherwise, the Android 2.3 Optimus LTE Tag comes with a 4.3-inch IPS LCD screen with WVGA resolution and 650 nits of brightness, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 5MP camera and a MHL port. There's no details about its video camera resolution yet but the smartphone is said to cost about 800,000 won (US$710) and will launch in South Korea. There's no official information yet so as to whether the phone will make an appearance outside of Korea, but keep your eyes peeled on MWC.
