HP Makes IT Easier for SMBs
HP has announced a number of new offerings designed to aid small and medium-sized businesses to prepare their technology infrastructure for a growing mobile workforce. The HP Converged Infrastructure provides the ideal platform for secure and continuous access to data applications. This is fundamental to being able to manage their data across the mobile platform, as there are more than 1.1 billion mobile appliances in use worldwide.
In partnership with Citrix, Microsoft and VMware, HP is now offering technology solutions and services, as well as financing and training programs that enable resource-challenged SMBs to simplify IT system needs. Presence on the mobile platform is essential, because according to Gartner research, at least 50% of business email users will rely primarily on a tablet or a mobile client instead of a traditional desktop by 2016.
There are currently four services being offered by HP. The HP Client Virtualization SMB is a virtual desktop solution that helps improves security. The HP Client Virtualization, Analysis and Modeling, on the other hand, is a prepackaged service that helps reduce risk and complexity of client virtualization projects by first analyzing any existing IT environments before deploying further solutions. There’s also the HP Transformation Experience Workshop for Mobility, which is a service that simplifies the adoption of mobile technology for businesses. Finally, there’s the HP Business Protection Solutions, which are solutions that are based on preconfigured reference architectures from the HP Converged Infrastructure to offer the best in data protection, network security, and disaster recovery.
As for products, HP is introducing three product series designed for SMBs. The HP Multi-Service Router (MSR) series are all-in-one, customizable platforms that allow clients to streamline deployment of networks by integrating security and wired/wireless networking features into one device. There’s also the HP 1090 8G Switch series, which are Internet switches that reduce power costs by featuring an energy-saving Power over Internet (PoE) technology to deliver simple, reliable , and cost-effective network access . Finally, there’s the HP X5000 Storage, which is a NAS system that helps businesses to store and manage the huge amounts of data to and from mobile devices.
The HP Client Virtualization SMB service will be available in September, while all other solutions and services are available now through HP and worldwide channel partners.
