Focal Unveils a Series of Birds
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Focal-JMlab has officially unveiled the Bird series of speaker systems here in Malaysia. An intimate hands-on session for the media was held at Furama Hotel, Bukit Bintang earlier today, where some serious quality audio was blasted for us.
Present at the event were Harris Tay, Managing Director of Orange Communications Pte Ltd, and Eugene Ng, Marketing and Product Manager of Orange Communications Pte Ltd. Eugene Ng was first to give a presentation, where he introduced the Bird series and the concept behind it. Tay then followed up by giving a demonstration of the Bird 2.1 System.

The Bird series consists of three variants, each catering to users with different levels of budgets. Each Bird system can be broken down into two components: the satellite speakers and the subwoofer/amplifier system. There are three types of satellite speakers: Little Bird, the Bird, and the Super Bird, while the subwoofer/amplifier system is known as the Power Bird. The three variants of the Bird series differ in terms of the satellite speakers being used in conjunction with the Power Bird. They are respectively named the Little Bird 2.1 System, the Bird 2.1 System, and the Super Bird 2.1 System. The Little Bird 2.1 System is retailing for RM3,999, the Bird 2.1 System for RM4,599, and the Super Bird 2.1 System retails at RM5,599. All three variants are currently being sold at retail outlets such as Robinson Garden, Parkson Pavilion, Isetan Garden and KLCC, Dot Life Wangsa Walk Mall, First Subang Mall, PIKOM ICT Mall CapSquare and other authorized Focal dealers.

Apart from the unveiling of the Bird series, we were also introduced to other Focal products such as the iTransmitter, which is a transmitter compatible with iOS devices. The iTransmitter allows users to wirelessly stream audio to any Bird system via Kleer technology. Kleer technology is Focal’s wireless transmission technology that allows users to stream lossless audio from about 10 meters away to any Bird system. This device is retailing for RM488. The iTransmitter will also be available in Dock and USB versions at a later point in time.
