Buffalo Launches New TeraStation 5000

Buffalo has introduced its newest storage file and backup server, the TeraStation 5000 Series (TS 5000), which is designed specifically for SMBs. The TS 5000 will help businesses to easily manage and control data, achieve greater productivity, security and increase the span of information access and control for all users.

The TS 5000 sports an intuitive web interface that is quick and simple to use. Data that are stated to be sensitive are automatically encrypted in the TS 5000 using AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), a high standard of encryption. The new web interface has been improved to feature two modes of management: Simple and Advanced. This allows users with little technical training to manage the settings of the TS 5000, while more familiar users can access the more complex settings just as easily.

The TS 5000 file and backup servers will be equipped with the Intel Atom dual-core processor and 2GB of DDR3 RAM for seamless multitasking. This will enable users to perform different tasks securely with fast performance, while the TS 5000 perform indexing, replication and back up tasks in the background.

Besides that, the TS 5000 is the only product in its class that can simultaneously act as both a NAS and IP SAN (Internet Protocol Storage Area Network Storage). Featuring the iSCSI (Internet Small Computer Systems Interface) Target Support Internet Protocol (IP), the TS 5000 allows SMBs to easily allocate space within their NAS to effectively function as independent virtual servers for various users.

The TS 5000 also features a SMB Log, which allows business owners to easily track activities by all users assessing data within the company on the NAS. This will improve the accountability within the SMB environments and empowers business owners with the knowledge of knowing who is accessing their files within the NAS.
