Nokia: The Amazing Lumia Arrives!
After much anticipation, Nokia has finally launched its Lumia range of smartphones in Malaysia. Touted as 'the first real Windows Phone', the Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 was unveiled in a grand ceremony last Friday on February 10, 2012 at Pavilion KL.

The event first kicked off at 3.45pm with a press briefing about the Nokia Lumia experience, which combines the company's signature elements like quality imaging capabilities with new experiences, including the Windows Metro interface and mobile, turn-by-turn navigation via the Nokia Drive service. From the sleek, stylish Lumia 800 to the affordable, colorful Lumia 710, Nokia's latest smartphones are built to offer an integrated social experience and fast Internet browsing, bringing content to life for the consumer.

"This is a significant step forward as we continue to drive innovation throughout our entire portfolio, and the Nokia Lumia smartphones is a testimony to our capabilities in balancing technology innovation with optimal user experience,” said Neil Gordon, Vice President of Sales, Nokia South East Asia during the press briefing. “Together with Microsoft, Nokia has created a new ecosystem that opens up opportunities for developers, as seen in these first two Nokia Lumia smartphones. Malaysia is a strategic market for Nokia, with a population of socially connected, tech-savvy and design-conscious smartphone users, whom we believe will certainly enjoy the phones as it complements their lifestyle.”
The press briefing was then followed by the launch gambit at 5.25pm, which opened the Nokia Lumia showcase outside the mall, where customers had already been lining up for the phone, with some queuing in line as early as 6am. A flash mob of dancers jived to LMFAO's 'Party Rock Anthem' and 'Sexy and I Know It', as riders zoomed into the showcase on customized Vespas to welcome a truck carrying the Lumia showcase.

Following the launch, sales of the Nokia Lumia then began, with a promotion for the first 100 who purchased the Lumia 800 being given a Nokia Purity HD Stereo Headset by Monster, a Microsoft Arc mouse and Nokia premiums worth RM1,000. By 6pm, the Lumia showcase was opened for public viewing.

Nokia's first Windows Phone, the Lumia is built to bring a much more intuitive experience in terms of social connectivity, communication, style and functionality. With the addition of Nokia Drive, which comes preloaded with maps of over 100 countries worldwide including Malaysia, an exclusive service which is only available to Nokia Lumia users, the Nokia Lumia is set to deliver 'The Amazing Everyday'.
