GameAxis VERSUS: Post-Event Report

GameAxis VERSUS (Part 1)

Some called it loud, while others called it crowded. Whatever you may have called it, the first ever GameAxis VERSUS tournament was a resounding success last weekend, with over a thousand strong crowd attending the event throughout all three days. Held from Friday to Sunday at the Blue Concourse, Sunway Pyramid, VERSUS is the first cross-platform gaming tournament organized by the GameAxis Unwired Malaysia team.

As previously covered, last Friday was also the day that GameAxis Unwired Malaysia hosted its annual GameAxis Survey Awards, leaving both Saturday and Sunday for the actual tournament. Tournament titles include League of Legends and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the PC, as well as Gran Turismo 5, FIFA 12, and Street Fighter X Tekken for the PS3.

With lucrative prizes up for grabs including 40" Sony Bravia TVs, Cooler Master CM Storm products and other fantastic prizes, the event saw a turnout of about 160 participants, some from as far away as Penang and Sabah.

For FIFA 12, Muhammad bin Zainun aka [MyFeS] leOmeS was crowned champion after fighting his way back up from the loser’s bracket to win a 40” Sony Bravia LCD TV, an EA title, one Logitech Universal Remote Controller, a set of Kworld Speakers, a Galactic Laser voucher, and a single Audio Technica Headset.

For Gran Turismo 5, Mohammad Noor Bin Mohd Jamil aka Madnoren, took the checkered flag to win himself a 40” Sony Bravia LCD TV, one Logitech Universal Remote, a set of Kworld Speakers, a Galactic Laser voucher, and one Audio Technica headset.
