Casings and Coolers Guide
Cooler Master Brings Cool Offerings to COMPUTEX 2012
Cooler Master had a strong presence at COMPUTEX with two display areas at the Nangang hall – this one on the first floor and another room just for VIPs with a Secret Room where we were shown upcoming products but were not allowed to take any photos. Suffice to say we were mightily impressed with what we saw.
Cooler Master displayed products that can be broadly categorized into two areas – PC and mobile. Under the PC category we were introduced to the latest casings, notebook coolers, keyboards and mice as well as a couple of gaming headphones to boot.
Over on the mobile side, we were treated to a slew of casings and covers for the ubiquitous iPhone and iPad as well as casings for other smartphones from manufacturers like Samsung.
Here's a quick look at some of the products that really caught our eye.
This mannequin greeted us at the room upstairs at Nangang, wearing all the latest premiums and some products from Cooler Master. Beside it is a showcase with all the goodies that Cooler Master gives out from time to time.
The Wave Stand for tablet is from Cooler Master's mobile range of products. It features an ultra lightweight aluminum alloy body that fits all kinds of tablets and allows you to view in either portrait or landscape orientation. Its fold away design makes it an easy travel companion.
The JAS Pro foldable stand can be used for tablets as well as for Apple's popular MacBook series of notebooks. You can adjust for height as well as optimal viewing angles. Its ultra lightweight and aluminum construction makes it easy to bring about.
From far we thought that Cooler Master was making the world's largest mice. However, on closer inspection we discovered that they are in fact docking stations that you can use to hold your iPad!
With Ultrabooks all the craze at COMPUTEX this year, Cooler Master has introduced the I100 cooling pad. This slim type cooler is only 23mm thick and its ergonomic design provides comfortable viewing/typing angles and also has easy cable management. It comes in seven attractive color options.
Staying with the mobile theme, Cooler Master also had a slew of casings for popular smartphone models such as the iPhone 4S. In the foreground is the Pilot Suitcase that features a shell made of high-impact polycarbonate as well as a kickstand for portrait and landscape mode. It also offers full access to all ports, controls and cameras. At the back is the Claw case for iPhone 4S which features a TPU shell and super grip surface texture that offers added protection.
The popular Power Fort 5600 mAh now comes in a choice of six attractive colors. It is a portable battery charger that provides power for your mobile devices anytime, anywhere via a USB port.
Cooler Master showed-off the all-new Wake Up Folio which is their take on the Smart Cover for Apple's popular new iPad and iPad 2. It comes in eight color choices. When opened or closed, the cover activates the wake/sleep function of your iPad.
Cooler Master also had this protective casing for Samsung's popular GALAXY Note smartphone.
No COMPUTEX show would be complete without PC casings from Cooler Master. Seen here is the impressive Raider that boasts a special handle on the top for transporting it over short distances only. It certainly isn't a portable casing given the weight!
The elegant Stryker is a gamer's favorite and comes in an elegant White. It features 90-degree rotatable 5.25”/3.5” Comco Cages and 9+1 PCI expansion slots for extra-large motherboards and multiple graphic cards. The front panel allows quick access to the fan controller, case fan lights and two USB 3.0 ports. It also has a soft yet sturdy rubber handle for easy lifting.
When it came to keyboards, Cooler Master had a selection of mechanical models of which these two tickled our fancy. The Quick Fire Pro (below) comes with CHERRY MX switches and is guaranteed to last 50 million taps. There are also individual red LED backlit keys for gaming key clusters. The smaller unnamed keyboard on top is more compact and can be carried around. It features the same quality switches minus the NUM pad.
The Eisberg 240 is Cooler Master's ready-to-use liquid cooling system. This closed system allows you to simply install it without having to worry about handling cooling compounds and spillages. Perfect for users entering the liquid cooling game for the first time.
The small form factor makes a return with the Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced. This micro-ITX casing features an aluminum and plastic front bezel and a steel case body with front, side and HDD dedicated cooling systems.
Cooler Master had two headphones models on display at their room. An unidentified entry-level model (below) and the Sonuz that's built for audiophiles and gaming enthusiasts alike. The Sonuz comes with large, high-quality drivers as well as huge breathable on-ear padding that is soft and comfortable.
The Thunder Series of PSUs deliver stable streams of power through dual +12V outputs with 85% efficiency at typical load operation as well as multiple protection designs and a reliable 3-year warranty. It comes in 500-, 550- and 600W models.
The Sentinel Advance V2 mouse is equipped with the latest Avago 9800 Laser Sensor, which provides a staggering 8200 DPI resolution. It also has an ergonomic mouse body that most gamers will find pleasing to use.
