A Closer Look at the Sound of Edifier

Early this week, we were invited to Edifier’s manufacturing plant in Dongguan, China to get a closer look at the manufacturing process behind Edifier audio products What initially was supposed to be a simple factory tour turned out to be a humbling experience as the founder and CEO of Edifier himself, Zhang Wendong was on site to conduct the factory tour.

Before heading into the factory itself, it was explained that the building was designed by Edifier’s Head Designer, Guang Xie Xiao. Inside the premises of this facility, there’s a hostel that houses over 2,000 employees, a basketball court, a canteen, and even a lounge. Zhang explained that every care was made to ensure that the facility was as eco-friendly as possible. This was done by using only LED lighting, an automated air-conditioning system, whose compressors ran only at night, and a dedicated air-filtering system.

During the factory tour, Zhang emphasized that the reason why Edifier hasn’t been aggressively releasing new products into the market over the past years was due to the fact that they take research and development seriously, ensuring that every product is different from one another, but offers the highest level of audio excellence. This is done by extensively testing the products using a variety of tests that make use of both hardware and software tests.

With the factory tour completed, we bid farewell to Zhang and headed home to Malaysia.
