Samsung Enhances the Digital Imaging Experience with the Latest NV Series Cameras
Company aims to be a top tier digital still camera brand in 2010 and bolsters its design-centric NV Series cameras with new technology innovations
Samsung Electronics today introduced the NV100HD, a high performance camera with the world's highest optical performance of 14.7 megapixels and a 28mm wide angle lens, as well as the NV9, an ultra-compact and multimedia feature-packed camera. These cameras bolster its stable of well-received and highly acclaimed Samsung NV Series Digital Still Cameras (DSC), further strengthening Samsung's leadership in the product category as it aims to be the top tier digital still camera brand in 2010.
"Samsung will leverage its design prowess and capability in developing market-leading innovative products in the DSC category. We intend to bring the ultimate digital imaging experience to our consumers by designing cameras that suit varying consumer needs. With these new stylish and high-technology additions to the NV Series range, we hope to capitalise on this growth area in Singapore and reinforce our leadership in this region," said Mr. Ki-Heung Yoon, Managing Director, Samsung Asia Pte Ltd.
The NV Series was first introduced in 2006 following a two-year study to gain lifestyle insights and understand photo-taking habits of consumers. Building on the growing popularity of the NV Series with cameras such as the NV24HD, the world's smallest, 24mm ultra-wide angle, 10 mega-pixel digital camera, Samsung recorded stellar 53 per cent year-on-year growth in sales in the first half of 2008.
Samsung has also moved the sales and marketing function of the Digital Imaging category from Samsung Techwin under the Samsung Electronics stable, which enables the company to leverage its resources, existing relationships and strengths in the consumer electronics retail channel to grow the category. To reach its goals, Samsung will also expand its channels and embark on an aggressive and integrated communications campaign to raise brand awareness of its digital cameras, while offering a comprehensive product line-up targeting different consumer segments from first time buyers to photography enthusiasts.
The new NV Series cameras include:
The Samsung NV100HD boasts the world's highest resolution of 14.7 megapixels and a Schneider lens yielding a 28mm wide angle focal length with 3.6x optical zoom. The NV100HD also has a 3.0 inch hVGA Touch Screen with Smart Touch 2.0 technology, a simple navigation method that enables one-touch access to the camera's dynamic features and advanced controls.
Samsung's most advanced point and shoot digital camera, the NV100HD builds upon the success of its predecessor, the NV24HD, with the ability to capture high-definition video at a resolution of 720p, along with Dual Image Stabilisation for sharper images.
