Nikon to Maintain Top Position in DSLR Market in 2012

Nikon has just launched a powerhouse FX-format digital SLR camera, the Nikon D800, which is set to offer powerful digital imaging solutions to users of all levels through advanced technology and design. The camera possesses the world’s highest effective pixel count of 36.3-million pixels, the new EXPEED 3 image-processing engine and a 91K-pixel (approximately 91,000 pixels) RGB sensor.
Officiating the event in Kuala Lumpur today were Masanobu Tsunoda, Managing Director of Nikon Malaysia & Nikon Singapore; David Ng, General Manager of Consumer Products Marketing Department, Nikon Malaysia; S.T. Hon, General Manager of Consumer Products Sales Department, Nikon Malaysia; and Mahfooz NR, Senior Manager, Nikon Professional Service, Consumer Products Marketing Department, Nikon Malaysia.

Said Masanobu Tsunoda, “The D800 is Nikon’s response to demands by advanced amateur photographers and professionals alike for a higher pixel count, better image quality, smaller and lighter DSLR camera that captures still images with superior resolution and records movies with true high-definition picture quality. Users of all levels will experience powerful digital imaging solutions through advanced technology and design.”

Also launched were a range of COOLPIX cameras comprising six S-Series models, four all-new L-Series and the advanced P-Series. Featuring some of the brand’s most advanced technology, including built-in lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) function and an effective 16.1-million pixel count, the COOLPIX P310 and COOLPIX P510 are set to offer some of the best imaging solutions in the market. S-Series features include built-in GPS function, a high-power 18x optical zoom that utilizes thin optics and an effective 16.0-million pixel count for superior image quality, to name a few. The L-Series is built for simplicity including the compact L810, which is small but powerful with its 26x high-power optical zoom lens. The L310 has a powerful 21x optical zoom, while the entry-level L26 and L25 offer a 5x optical zoom and automatic shooting functions that make taking dazzling pictures easy.
